摘要:To investigate the effects of 8-week weight training ιυith equal intensity (8 to 15 repetition maximums) but different volumes (single vs.multiple sets) on bone mineral density (BMD) was aimed in the study.A total 42 male college studen ts were randomly grouped as single-set (SSG;n= 14)f multiple-set (MSG;n= 13) and control groups (CG;n= 15).Whole body,spine,fem oral neck,trochanter,Ward's triangle,femoral shaft,armt pelυist leg,L2-L4 and trunk BMDs (g∕cm 2) were measured using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA).The increase observed in trunk BMD in SSG (1.32%;p<0.01) was greater than that in MSG and CG (p<0∙01 and p<0.05,respectively).Femoral shaft BMD increase in SSG (0.47%;p<0.05) was greater than that in the two other groups (p<0∙05)∙ Arm BMD increase in MSG (1.51%;p<0.01) was greater than that in CG (p<0∙01).There were no significant BMD differences in any group at the remaining sites measured.In conclusion,weight training conducted with single and multiple sets caused BMD increases in the femoral shaft,trunk;and arm,respectively.However,no statistical significant changes were observed in any of the other sites measured.Since differences betw een groups occurred only for a small number of parameters,it can be said that different resistance training may not affect BMD differently.
