摘要：This study gives the list of the medical cases and initiative taken in the Turkish team during the XIIIth Mediterranean games on 13-25 June 1997 in Bari,Italy.The 155 staff and 268 athletes were placed in different locations.So only 81o∕o of the team could be reached by a medical team of four doctors,two physioterapists and three masseurs.During the games,14 staff and 64 athletes paid 88 visits to the medical room (5.86 per day).Leading causes were upper respiratory tract infections,internal problems,locomotor system injuries in staff;muscle or skeletal system injuries in athletes.The sports with most problems were boxing (eight cases,67% of boxers),gymnastics (four cases,57%)i track and field (nine cases,56%) and wrestling (seven cases,50%).Physical therapy was applied to 21 athletes and 20 were able to compete.The study gives clues to better medical team organization in subsequent tournaments.
