摘要:This study investigated the effects of anaerobic and aerobic exercise on antioxidant enzyme activities in sedentary men.Fifteen healthy male volunteers (aged 18-22) were subjected to two different tests (supramaximal and incremental) on the cycle ergometer.Erythrocyte superoxide dismutase (SOD),catalase (CAT),and glutathione peroxidase (GPX) in were measured at rest and following exercise. The supramaximal exercise c onsisted o f 30 sec maximal effort on a cycle ergometer (Wingate test).Incremental exercise started with 50 W on the cycle ergometer and every three minutes work load was increased by 50 W.Blood samples were taken from a forearm vein at rest and following exercise.Blood SOD enzyme activities increased significantly (p<0.05) following incremental exercise.CAT and GPX at rest were not significantly different after the incremental exercise.SOD and CAT activities after the Wingate test were not significantly different from resting values.GPX activities decrea sed significantly (p<0∙05) following the Wingate test. These data suggest that supramaximal exercise caused significant oxidant stress, and that GPX and glutathione have an important role.
