摘要:Medial tibial stress syndrome or as more frequently used term shin splint,is a overuse injury caused by repetitive microtraumas which is frequently seen in athletes. There are many opinions about its description and aetiology in the literature. It is commonly agreed upon that, medial tibial stress syndrome consists of symptoms of pain and tenderness along the inner distal two thirds of the leg caused by musculotendinous iηflammations. We reviewed the current modalities and discussed the aetiologic factors and treatment protocols that we applied in eight athletes with a diagnosis of medial tibial stress syndrome. They were preparing for the qualification exams of PE schools with a heavy training programme and they applied to the Ege University Sports Medicine Department with complaints of pain and tenderness fo r at least the last six weeks period.
