摘要：Our goal in this text is to analyze the parts of speech/word classes focusing on interjection. The objective to be attained with this research is to examine how and on what basis and fundamentals the Portuguese grammarians of the 16th, 18th and 19th centuries, and also a 19th-century Brazilian treated this class. There were two criteria that we put in place in order to select the authors: i. the grammatization of the interjection in Portuguese works, which led us to the first grammars, whose authors dealt with the matter (João de Barros 1540, Figueiredo 1799); ii. the philosophical treatment of the class (Fonseca 1799, Barbosa 1822, amongst the Portuguese, and Pacheco da Silva and Lameira de Andrade 1887, Brazilian).
