  • 摘要:The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of letter writing,a writing to learn activity,and traditional teaching methods on academic achievement,critical thinking skills and attitudes of the primary school teacher candidates in the general physics course. The research is a semi-experimental research and it was conducted with a teacher and 44 the primary school teacher candidates. The students who made up the sampling were determined randomly as the experiment and the control group. The control group was taught the subject of motion via traditional teaching method. The experiment group was taught the subject of motion via traditional teaching method. Moreover,at the end of each lesson the students were asked to explain the subject learned in the lesson by writing a letter to their peers. The letters that they wrote were examined and as a result,the deficiencies were corrected by teacher. As data collection tools,Academic Achievement Test (AAT),Critical Thinking Skills Scale (CTSS),and Physics Attitude Test (PAT) were used in the research study. Before these tests were implemented,pre-test was administered with all the students and after the implementation,the same tests were executed with the students. The findings of the study revealed that post- test mean scores of both experimental and control groups’ academic achievements tests were statistically significant when compared to their mean pre-test scores and mean post-test scores of critical thinking skills scale and physics attitude test were not statistically significant when compared to their mean pre-test scores. The end of the study was recommed that this study can researched different sample and different topics.
