摘要:Textbooks are important materials of educational environment. Especially in Turkish lessons one of the major contributions to the process of learning is provided by textbooks. In Turkish education narrative and informative texts,and poems are used. In course books,mainly narrative texts are included. The characters are the most important elements of narrative texts. Characters in the Turkish textbooks should have the features that will be role model for the students. The featuresthe characters have are effective for students in terms of pastiche and identification. This study was planned according to the case study of qualitative study methods. The material of study was 7th grade Turkish textbook prepared by EZ-DE publications and used in 2017-2018 education period. In this study,which aimed to reveal the sufficiency of the characters about being role model for students,document review among data collection methodswas used. By scanning Turkish education in general and children’s literature in particular,“Character Rating Scale” was composed and by consulting to 3 domain experts the scale was put into its final form. 14 narrative texts partaking in the 7th grade Turkish textbook prepared by EZ-DE publications were examined and evaluated according to aforementioned scale above. It is observedthat in the %7 of the texts in the book the characters have the qualification of being a role model for students while in the %7 of the texts in the book the characters do not have the qualification of being a role model.
