摘要:The aim of this study is to investigate the self-efficacy of the students who are studying English at the preparatory classes of the universities and to find out whether the personal variables of the students affect their English language selfefficacy. This study is predicated on a descriptive survey of quantitative research designs. The sample consists of 410 students from a state and a private university. For the collection of data,The English Self-Efficacy Scale,developed by HancıYanar and Bümen (2012) is used. For the analysis of data,descriptive statistics is used to determine personal variable and English self-efficacy level of the students. T-test and one-way analysis of variance are used to find out whether there is a difference in English language self-efficacy according to the personal variables. As a result,it is found out that students’ English self-efficacy is highest in reading skill and it is followed by listening,speaking and writing skills. For personal variables,it is concluded that gender,working status,accommodation and monthly expense are not effective on English self-efficacy while school type,academic achievement,language level and residence are.
