摘要:The introductory part of the Dlask Chronicle, consisting of excerpts from period popular science literature by Jiří Václav Paroubek, was completely neglected in the classical editions, and only the last edition includes it in its corpus. Referring to this newly published text, the paper attempts to interpret two levels of a problem inherent in it. On the one hand, the question arises about the role played by Paroubek’s book or the copy of it in the Dlask Chronicle, and what can be gained from this ‘unoriginal’ concept of the study of the phenomenon of rural peasant scribes writing at the turn of the 19th century. A second level which the paper concerns is the question of the methodology for tackling such a problem and its importance for contemporary research on the turn of the 19th century. The existing editorial practice systematically omitted the above-mentioned parts of the Dlask Chronicle. This step is not an easy and unproblematic decision as it has deep roots in the methodology of historical research and in its posing of questions. Understandably,by omitting one part of the chronicle historical thought forfeits some of the possible questions and answers, losing some of history..
