摘要:Theatre masks and fancy dress lie at the core of two literary works composed for the wedding ceremonies of Amélie de Berckheim; the young Alsatian woman married Fritz de Dietrich on the 27-th of May 1797, at the very heart of the French Revolution. The two literary creations occasioned by the event, a fairy tale (La Couronne de Pallas) and a play (Bouquets offerts à Lonny, par ses soeurs et ses amies, le jour de son mariage) were written (the play also staged, directed, acted) by a group of young women, sisters and best friends of the bride, all members of the Schoppenwihr circle. During the (re)presentation of their artistic works in front of the audience, the girls wore symbolic masks inspired by the marriage mythology and the French literary tradition.
