摘要:Rural areas are associated with the production of food, which should be fresh and healthy. Offering food directly to the final consumer facilitates the preservation of these two basic values. Currently, short distribution channels are becoming more and more popular in Poland and the world. Direct sales enables the distribution of products without intermediaries, and thanks to the higher margins that can be achieved, it helps to improve the financial situation of producers. In addition, the launch of direct sales by a farmer or another economic entity operating in rural areas is a manifestation of the entrepreneurial skills of the management staff and activates the local development potential. The purpose of the article is to present selected aspects of direct sales of entities located in rural areas in Poland. The paper presents the essence of direct sales as an element of the supply chain and distribution channel, and attention has been paid to the specific nature of sales of entities operating in rural areas. The benefits of participation in short food supply chains for producers and consumers were also presented.
