摘要:Foreign direct investment (FDI), i.e. an investment made by investor(s) from one country into business interests located in another country, are associated with various effects on the economic growth of the host region. It can either maintain the current development level of the economy or facilitate the economic transformation. Thus, the impact of FDI is of particular concern for less developed regions, such as the Lubuskie voivodeship in Poland. This paper investigates whether FDI complements the Regional Development Strategy of the Lubuskie voivodeship and explores whether the regional governmental policies create a favorable investment environment. The main research goal is to estimate the amount, growth rate and structure of FDI influx to the Lubuskie region, considering the local characteristics. Methods used in this study are benchmarking, secondary source review, visualization and description. The first (theoretical) part of this paper is followed by an empirical analysis of 2010–2016 data. The conclusions are based on literature insights, secondary sources and data analyses, and describe the characteristics of the FDI influx specific to the Lubuskie voivodeship (including barriers and other issues), as well as the impact of FDI on the region’s sustainable, smart and inclusive growth.
