摘要：The aim of this work is to present the significance and expedience of the allocation of the foreign direct investments into the wood processing industry of Slovak Republic. This branch has an irreplaceable position in Slovak Economics due to its comparative advantages. Foreign direct investments (FDI) contribute with its effects to the economic growth and competitiveness of economy. The work on the ground of the use of chosen statistical methods (correlation analysis and linear regression) judges the impact of investments on the important factors of the word processing industry. It also shows the contribution of FDI during the period 1999 – 2005 for the growth of performance and competitiveness of wood processing industry.
