摘要:Various tools like textbooks are used in foreign language teaching. Different textbooks are written in teaching Turkish as a foreign language for different target groups. In this research study, sixteen books written to teach Turkish to English during the Ottoman period were examined in terms of language teaching. The books were evaluated in terms of teaching grammar, language teaching methods, language skills, teaching language, culture transfer, text selection, teaching-learning process, visuals, purpose, audience and alphabets. Document analysis of the qualitative research method was used in research, and descriptive analysis and content analysis were used for analysis. As a result of data analysis, it was realized that both the Arabic alphabet and the Latin alphabet were used, and the teaching of grammar was focused to improve students' reading skills in the textbooks.
