  • 摘要:This study aims to examine the relationship between prosody and reading comprehension. In accord with this, firstly, whether a significant relationship between prosody and reading comprehension existed was investigated. Secondly, whether prosody was a significant predictor in reading comprehension was scrutinized. This study was conducted using the relational screening model. The study sample consisted of a total of 86 second, third, and fourth graders at a public school in Bursa during the 2014-2015 academic year. The data were collected, using the Prosodic Reading Scale, narrative texts that were developed by the researcher, and open-ended questions that were prepared for these texts. The data were analyzed using the Pearson’s correlation analysis and simple linear regression. As the answer to the first research question, it was found that there was a moderately positive significant relationship between prosody and reading comprehension. For the second research question, prosody was found to be a significant predictor in reading comprehension. These results indicate that prosody is an indicator in reading comprehension.
