摘要:This research aimed to determine the perceptions of prospective Turkish teachers regarding Nasreddin Hodja who epitomizes humor and critical thinking in the Turkish culture. This study was carried out, using the phenomenology design which is a form of qualitative research, and, in determining the participants, convenience sampling, which is one of the main types of purposeful sampling identified with qualitative research, was used. The study, which used this sampling method, was carried out with the participation of 40 prospective teachers who studied in the Turkish Language Teacher Education Department of Recep Tayyip Erdogan University. During datacollection, a qualitative data collection tool, referred to as "metaphor" in the literature, was used in order to determine the participants’ perceptions of the concept of "Nasreddin Hodja". In the preparation of the Metaphor Determination Form (MBF), studies conducted on the use of metaphor as a tool in the literature were surveyed. In the introduction part of the form which was created based on literature survey, a brief explanation on the concept of "metaphor" and metaphor examples were given, and the purpose of the study was clearly stated. In the second part of the form, participants were asked to fill in the blanks to complete the sentences "Nasreddin Hodja is like ...... . Because….. ." in order to determine their perceptions of Nasreddin Hodja. In the form of a question about these concepts, participants were asked to express five metaphors for each concept and their methods of analogy regarding these metaphors. In the analysis of the data obtained in the research, content analysis was used from among the qualitative analysis techniques, and the codes and themes obtained as a result of the analyses were transferred into the computer environment and analyzed, using the SPSS program. The frequencies (f) and percentages (%) of the participants obtained as a result of these analyses were classified according to the themes that were created, and the interpretation of the findings was tabulated. As a result of this research, seven conceptual categories: Cultural Ambassador, Amusing Thought, Wise, Guiding Compass, Rotating Mirror, Infinite Word, and Resource were formed. It was concluded that the perceptions of prospective Turkish teachers regarding Nasreddin Hodja were positive and reflected Hodja's perspective.
