  • 摘要:One of the most effective and permanent ways for humans to express themselves is writing. Through writing, emotions and opinions are shared and become permanent. Writing skill, like the reading skill, requires a learning process. The main purpose of this learning process is to enable individuals to express their emotions, opinions and ideas in writing and to convert what they can orally express into the written expression skill in compliance with the rules of the language. Writing education given in our schools aims to enable students to express themselves in writing and totransfer what they have constructed in their minds, their wishes and needs onto paper in compliance with the rules of the language in a comprehensible manner. In the current study, the purpose is to investigate the students’ story writing skills by getting them to fictionalize an event and then write it in compliance with the rules of the written language in a coherent manner. To this end, 47 secondary school fifth grade students were asked to do a story writing activity in the 2015-2016 school year, and the students’ works were analyzed by using the “Graded Scoring Chart” developed by the researchers. The current study is a case study which has its basis in qualitative research. In the analysis of the collected data, descriptive analysis method was employed. The findings obtained from the analysis are presented in tables and interpreted using frequencies and percentages, and direct quotations from the students’ stories are included. The point in which the students are the most successful at is “language and expression” features; the aspect in which the students have the greatest difficulty is “content” dimension, including the elements of the story.
