摘要:Texts are used in teaching basic language skills and higher-level cognitive skills in Turkish language teaching. For this reason, texts which will be included in the Turkish coursebooks should be chosen in accordance with the “child-appropriateness” principle. To use texts which are included in the teaching and learning processes in a functional way, it is necessary to benefit from the data of text linguistics. Texts to be included in the coursebooks should be selected in line with the textuality standards. In this study, texts in the 5th Grade Turkish coursebooks were examined in terms of textuality standards. To determine the conformity of the texts with the textuality characteristics, the Textuality Standards, which were defined by Iseri (2014), were applied. As an important result of this research, it has been found out that some of the texts in the 5th grade Turkish coursebook do not fully meet the standards of textuality and that the texts are neither formed nor selected by taking the textuality standards into consideration.
