  • 摘要:In this study, the goal was to determine the trends in postgraduate studies regarding reading. The research was carried out, using document analysis which is a qualitative research method. 201 theses and dissertations were analyzed, using a thesis examination form. The findings of the research are as follows: A major increase has been observed in the number of theses on reading since 2009. Most of those theses were completed at Gazi University and focused on reading comprehension. In those studies, mostly 6-10 research questions were investigated. Descriptive survey model was mostly used in them. The samples were mostly secondary school students. Usually, the sample size was between 31-100 learners and the sampling method was random. The most commonly used data collection tool was reading comprehension tests and the data analysis method was the t-test. Based on these results, it was suggested that new teaching approaches in terms of subject, mixed research and action research in terms of method, prospective teachers and mixed groups in terms of sample, and regression as a method of quantitative analysis might be included in future studies. Observation, diary, self-evaluation, peer assessment, and portfolio may be used more as data collection tools. Scientific research methods courses should be compulsory in postgraduate education to write more robust theses in terms of method. In addition, advisors can be informed about scientific research methods so that they can direct scientific research studies better.
