摘要:The aim of this study was to determine the teachers’ and parents’ views on the relationship between Turkish language arts course and popular culture texts of middle school students. Therefore, the study was designed as a case study. The study group consisted of 4 Turkish language arts teachers, 48 parents of the students. Semi-structured interview forms and voice recordings was used to collect data. Teachers' and parents' opinions were analyzed by content analysis technique. According the findings of the study, the majority of Turkish language arts teachers and parents of students stated that it is necessary to integrate popular culture texts into Turkish language arts courses. The reason for these ideas was that popular cultural texts will affect the learning-teaching process positively and students will feel more belonging to their school. The other finding of the study was that most of the parents and teachers had a negative perception about popular cultural texts. Although they had the negative perception, it is concluded that popular culture texts should be used in Turkish language arts course because they think that they are indispensable in students' daily life.
