摘要:The aim of this study was to examine the number, frequency and types of the words of Arabic origin in the Yedi İklim Türkçe series, to compare the meanings of the words of Arabic origin with their meanings in Turkish and Arabic based on students’ views. The materials scrutinized were the reading texts in the Yedi İklim Türkçe series (A1-A2) and the study group was composed of 7 Arab students. In this qualitative study, document analysis was used and “word” was used as the unit of analysis. In addition, an interview form was used to determine the semantic dimensions of the words. According to the findings obtained from the study, the total word frequency in the reading texts of the A1 and A2 levels of Yedi İklim Türkçe was 16876, among which 474 words of Arabic origin were used 2883 times (17.1%). It was determined that words of Arabic origin were included in the A2 level textbook mostly, and in terms of word types, it was found that the most used type was noun and the least used type was preposition. In addition, according to the opinions of the Arabic students, words of Arabic origin that entered Turkish showed a significant similarity in terms of their meanings with their Arabic counterparts (70.5%).
