摘要:This study aims to examine the investigation of the relation between awareness of parents on children’s literature and reading habits of the students. In the study cross-sectional survey model of the descriptive research method was used. The sample of the research was created by parents of 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades students studying at Gedikkaya secondary school in the city center of Giresun and Çavuşlu secondary school in the country of Görele. The students at Çavuşlu secondary school was included in the study in order to reveal the relation between awareness of the parents on children’s literature and reading habits of the students. The data of the study was analyzed with SPSS 16.0. In the result of the research, the awareness of the parents of secondary school students on children’s literature was determined that was at the level ‘’I agree’. It has been concluded that there is not a significant relation between awareness of the parents on children’s literature and their educational status, where they got education, gender, income status. As a result of the research, the parents cannot sufficiently be a model for their children to read booksand there is also a limited relation between awareness of parents on children’s literature and children’s reading habits.
