  • 摘要:The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of two different strength training methods on body compositions in sedentary individuals. The participants of the study consisted of 24 male volunteers in the age range of 18-27 years who were not involved in any physical activity programs on a regular basis for the last year. The measurements of the body compositions (body fat percentage, chest girth, shoulder girth, thigh girth) were made before and after the training training period. The 24 volunteers participating in the study were divided into two groups; strength training programs prepared with repetitive overload method were implemented to the first group while those prepared with pyramidal overload method were implemented to the second group for a period of 8 weeks. When the pre-test and post-test values related to body compositions were compared, it was seen that the group implementing the repetitive overload method had significantly decreased abdominal fat, thigh fat and BFP (body fat percentage) values (P<0.05). On the contrary, significant increases were seen in chest girth, shoulder girth and thigh girth values (P<0.05). No significant difference was found when the body weight and pre-test and post-test values of BMI (body mass index) were compared (P>0.05). As for the group implementing the pyramidal overload method, it was seen that there were significant increases in body weight, BMI, chest girth, shoulder girth and thigh girth values (P<0.05), while significant decreases were seen in abdominal fat, thigh fat and BFP values (P<0.05). In conclusion, even though it was found that both training methods had positive effects on body compositions, in view of the analysis of the values, it was seen that pyramidal overload method was more effective within the same periods.
