摘要:The distinction between public and private space, which Hannah Arendt undertook by referring to the Ancient Greek world, has lost its importance. With the disappearance of the public space, in which common sense emerges, and the blurring of the boundaries between the public and private spaces, violence appears. Following the relationship of the common sense as its space with violence, the experiences of otherness and selfhood are interrupted. After revealing the relation between common sense from Arendt’s perspective and violence, this article will analyze whether social media, especially Twitter, creates a public space or not. It will investigate how the outcome of the analysis is related to violence, and question the possibility of the experiences of otherness, selfhood and subjectivity. While propounding these, a phenomenological research will be conducted on the lynches in the social media, especially in Twitter.
