摘要：Simeulue island is surrounded by fringing reefs, geographically included into the Simeulue Regency that borders directly with the Indian Ocean. Yellowfin tuna Thunnus albacares and dogtooth tuna Gymnosarda unicolor is the potential epipelagic species in Simeulue waters. This species of tuna has not been studied much of its bio-ecological character. This research aimed to determine the morphometric characters and the association of tuna in Simeulue waters. The research was conducted in February 2017, with the methods of direct observation and measurement of yellowfin tuna and dogtooth tuna of fisherman catch by using handline, then analyzed by using principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis. Yellowfin tuna catch as many as 85 tail with 35-105 cm size class and as many as 189 tail tuna dogtooth with class size 40-110 cm. Morphometric characters of yellowfin tuna and dogtooth tuna dominated by large size are found in the Teupah Selatan station and small size dominance at the Simeulue Timur station. The specific associations of yellowfin tuna and dogtooth tuna at an 80.0% similarity level formed 3 (three) groups.
