摘要:Laras Madya Sucen Hamlet is the art of music tradition that adoptingthe text of Javanese Islam Serat Wulangreh works Pakubuwono IV as his verse. Laras Madya accompaniment instrument consists of kendhang, terbang dhana, terbang gong, and sharon with two keys /kenthing. The problem in this research is how the dominance of mass culture on Laras Madya Sucen Hamlet? and how the resistance process of Laras Madya Sucen Hamlet ?. The approach in this study is interdisciplinary socio- anthropology. Using qualitative methods. The research location in the Sucen Hamlet, Triharjo Village, District Sleman, Yogyakarta. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and document study. The main techniques of data validity using triangulation. Data analysis technique used content analysis and interactive data analysis. The results showed: (1) The dominance of mass culture in the scope of a group Laras Madya Hamlet Sucen through the mass media.
