摘要：The purpose of this study is to study increased connections abilities and mathematical problem solving of the student in the learning of mathematics through open-ended approach. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 9 Bandung in the academic year of 2008/2009. The sample of this research was two classes of the eight available classes of grade X of even semester which were selected by using purposive sampling technique. The method used experimental method by using “pretest-postest group control design”. The results of this research was learning through open-ended approach could increase the ability of connections and solving mathematical problems of the students which was better than conventional learning. Learning through open ended approach could increase the ability of connections and solving mathematical problems of the students in the average level.
