摘要：This article presents the theoretical assumptions of the concept of smart specialisation and the theories of regional development,which are complementary to it.Analytical considerations have been subjected to both methods of identification of regional specialisation,as well as the effects of its use in the form of a provincial strategy for smart specialisation.Desk research concern polish selected regions,i.e.Pomerania Province,Masovia Province,Greater Poland,the Lublin Province,the Warmia-Masuria Province,Silesia.Due to the fact that the process of determining the development potential of each region is based on open to change approach,selected specialisations must be treated as a tool adapted to the current conditions and socio-economic challenges.Selection of smart specialisations cannot be accidental,so the voivodeships decide to set up teams of experts,responsible for selecting key competencies,industries or technologies,which will determine the future development of the various regions.
