摘要:Less-developed or developing countries, which have relatively low income level, need high amount of funding for the financing of the development. However, it is almost impossible to meet this financing with domestic savings due to the low income level and low saving rates in these countries. Therefore, while the financial liberalization efforts of these countries especially after 1980 fulfilled the funding need which was necessary for the growth and development of the countries, they caused significant economic problems in the countries. The empirical studies suggest that capital inflows might have different effects on countries’ economic growth. In this study, the effects of international capital movements on economic growth of developing countries are investigated by classifying 25 developing countries according to their income level and geographical regions for the years 1980-2005. The effects of portfolio investments on economic growth in low income countries are higher compared to high income countries and the level of human capital and infrastructure in home countries affects the volume of foreign direct investment.
