摘要：Although countries which abundantly have natural resources as oil and natural gas are expected to be better off than other countries in terms of economic and social aspects, the opposite situation occurs in general. The situation which is termed as “resource curse” by economists has been discussed and probable causes have been explained for so long in literature. Present study mainly focuses on the economical and political decisions to make about when and how to use the revenue that natural resources generate and the content of negotiations with international corporations. Results from the study generally produce the causes for undesired outcomes of being resource-rich and suggest which actions to be taken to eliminate these adverse outcomes. In order to avoid the resource curse it is of vital importance to transfer income acquired from resources to the fields which are thought to have comparative advantage in the future.
