摘要：In this study, whether the economic development levels of provinces in Turkey has impacts on performance in football or not is examined. Cross-section regression analysis are made by using data covering the period of 2010- 2014 in the study. The points reached by football clubs within professional leauges are considered as an indicator for the provinces’ success in football. The GDP per capita with current prices is applied to disclose the provinces’ economic development level as an indicator. As a control variable in regression analysis, indicators concerning the provinces’ population, football culture, climatic factors were included as well. As a result of the analysis handled, it’s found out that the economic development levels of provinces has impacts on their performance in football. However, that impact is not linear and it decreases in proportion to the increse in the provinces’ economic development level. And following a certain point, the economic development level starts to influence performance in football negatively.
