摘要:The Indonesian society is a multicultural one consisting of variety of ethnic groups with a varicty of languagcs and cultures of 2 own.It implies not only a richness and strength but also their potential for conflict.Such potential is also implied in the country's relationships with other countrics;in the communication betwecn the peoples concerned,misundcrstandings may result due to differences in culture.and respond to the differences peacefully,it is To understand important for the peoples concemed to havc multicultural education formally or informally.Such education can be integrated into some relevant lessons in class.Multicultural education should not only teach ethnical cultural symbols、such as,traditional houscs,drcss.dances,or songs: but also involve transformation and action.In the implementation of such multicultural education,there must be challenges coming especially from teachers and other educators at schools who underestimate multicultural education while the educational resources involved need to be free from bias and stercotyping related to ethnical,religious,gender、social class.and urban-rural (or city-village)differences This should similarly apply on authors.lcaders of national cducational institutions,and parents.In order to have superiorcapacity of implementing the multicultural education,it is necessary to have multicultural reading sources as well as multicultural training sessions and workshops involving teachers/lecturers and stakeholders.
