摘要：Teori relativitas linguistik yang mendasari hipotesis Sapir-Whorf cukup menarik untuk ditelaah dan dibuktikan lebih jauh,meskipun sebagian ahli menolak teori dan hipotesis tersebut.Adanya keberhubungan antara bahasa,budaya,dan pikiran penuturnya adalah gagasan dasar teori dan hipotesis tersebut.Kesantunan berbahasa yang berakar dari percikan nilai budaya masyarakat penuturnya,di antaranya,dapat dilihat dari kemasan struktur informasi struktur klausa (kalimat) suatu bahasa.Konstruksi klausa yang berbeda secara gramaikal mengemas struktur informasi dan nilai kesantunan berbahasa yang berbeda pula.Artikel ini membahas sejauh mana hubungan hipotesis Sapir-Whorf dengan struktur informasi dan nilai kesantunan berbahasa dalam konstruksi pentopikalan bahasa Minangkabau.Penelaahan didasarkan pada teori tipologi linguistik dan linguistik kebudayaan.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis Sapir-Whorf dapat diterima dan berhuhungan erat dengan budaya berbahasa dengan bukti bahwa konstruksi pentopikalan mempunyai struktur informasi yang membawa nilai santun berbahasa yang lebih tinggi berdasarkan budaya berbahasa masyarakat Minangkabau bila dibandingkan dengan yang ada pada konstruksi klausa dasar (aktif) atau konstruksi pasif.
其他摘要：Linguistic relativity theory as the basis of Sapir-Whorf hypothesis is interesting enough to be studied and to be proved although some linguists do not quiet agree with the theory and hypothesis.That there is interrelationship between language,culture,and thought becomes the basic idea of the theory and the hypothesis.Language politeness which comes up as the cultural representation,among the others,could be seen from information structure packaged in particular grammatical clause structures.Different clause constructions may bring different information structure and value of language politeness,as well.This article discusses to what extent the relationship between hypothesis Sapir-Whorf with information structure and the value of language politeness in topicalization construction of Minangkabaunese is.The study was done based on linguistic typology and anthropological linguistics theories.Research result shows that Sapir-Whorf hypothesis could be accepted and has close relationship with the culture of using language.It was proved by the fact that topicalization construction has an information structure which conveys higher value of language politeness based on Minangkabaunese culture than that brought by basic clause construction (active) or passive one.
