摘要：The language situation in Estonia as a member of multicultural and multilingual European Union has changed in comparison with last century and Estonia needs a clear strategy in order to teach foreign languages to its citizens working here in Estonia as well as in other European Union states.The current article gives an overview of the needs to teach and learn foreign languages in Estonia.The article also raises problems and offers solutions for Estonian foreign language strategy plan.A well-discussed foreign languages strategy together with promoting the sustainability of Estonian in Estonia would unequivocally lead to a situation where all residents of Estonia would become increasingly multilingual and the Estonian language would still be preserved as the of cial language.
其他摘要：Ühinemine Euroopa Liidu ja NATO-ga muutis oluliselt eesti- ja võõrkeelte õpetamise-valdamise senist paradigmat Eestis.Uus paradigma eeldab võimalikult laiemat eelnevat avalikku arutelu: tuleks läbi vaielda erinevad visioonid ning sündivate kompromisside alusel sõnastada pikaajaline eesti ja võõrkeelte õpetamise ning kasutamise strateegia Eestis.
