摘要：This paper offers a new critical edition of the alliance treaty between Athens and Carystus of 357 BC accompanied with a new supplement for lines 2-3 and 4-6. Moreover, a fresh discussion of the historical background which the decree refers to is given. Thanks to literary documentation (Aeschines, Demosthenes, Diodorus), the paper examines the history of Carystus, her relationships with Athens in the 470s and 450s BC, and establishes a time frame to date Carystus’ entry into the Second Athenian League.
