摘要：The Politicization of Ethnicity in the Andean Region: Notes on an Unfinished Debate This article addresses the engagement of the social sciences with the contemporary emergence of ethnic agendas in the Andean region. It stresses the relevance of these approaches that arose both from the political economy and also from constructivist views that privilege the strategic dimension of collective identities. While discussing these issues, the paper emphasizes the need to research the circumstances that aided the politicization of ethnicity – as well as its eventual de-politicization or relative politicization – in the contexts of countries such as Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia between the late twentieth century and early twenty-first century. Resumen: El texto aborda el interés mostrado desde las ciencias sociales por la emergencia contemporánea de las plataformas étnicas en la región andina. Se incide en la relevancia de las aproximaciones desarrolladas desde la economía política y las perspectivas construccionistas sobre la dimensión estratégica de las identidades colectivas. Se subraya además la necesidad de fortalecer la investigación sobre las circunstancias que coadyuvaron la politización de la etnicidad – así como su eventual des-politización o politización relativa – en la coyuntura por la que atravesaron países como Ecuador, Perú y Bolivia entre las décadas finales del siglo XX y las primeras del XXI.
