Abstract This article aims to explore the performance and effects produced by Porto Maravilha Urban Operation, instituted by municipal law nº10 of November 23, 2009. The operation aims to recover the socioeconomic and urban situation of the port area of Rio de Janeiro city. Based on studies performed by the Science, Technology and Society – STS, of the Actor-Network Theory – ANT and Architecture and Urbanism, we understand that the Port Zone acts as a collective, formed by different hybrid places in action, whose associations between actantes confer complexity to places. From this, we seek to map the movements and actions of some actants and gather diverse translations and performances of the Porto Maravilha. This way of looking at port area makes it possible to highlight not only the practices, but also the consensus, the positions of resistance and the controversies about the transformations that the region of the port of Rio de Janeiro has undergone in the present time, proliferating the multiple realities or possible versions of the Porto Maravilha project.
