摘要：Certaines collections patrimoniales sont infestées de manière cyclique par les insectes ravageurs. Les traitements curatifs utilisés sont des opérations ponctuelles d'éradication et ne règlent en aucune manière les ré-infestations chroniques des biens culturels sensibles. Certains produits répulsifs sont pour cela utilisés de manière préventive. Or la plupart s'avèrent dangereux pour l’homme et nombre d'entre eux sont en passe d’être interdits par la réglementation européenne et sa transcription nationale. L’utilisation des huiles essentielles, connues pour leurs effets sur les insectes et leur moindre nocivité, peut présenter une alternative intéressante. Les auteurs ont donc testé les propriétés répulsives d’un certain nombre d’entre elles sur le Stegobium paniceum, espèce d’insecte cosmopolite largement représentée dans les collections patrimoniales.

Currently used curative treatments are punctual eradication operations, but in no way do they prevent the chronic re-infestations of sensitive cultural objects. That is why certain repellent products are used preventively. But most of them have proved harmful to humans and many are about to be prohibited by European regulations and their national transcription. The use of essential oils, known for their effects on insects and their lower noxiousness, can be an interesting alternative. Consequently, the authors tested the repellent properties of a certain number of essential oils on Stegobium paniceum, an insect species found worldwide and broadly represented in heritage collections.
