摘要:This study investigates whether working memory capacity varies in the course of L2 speech proficiency. Seventy-nine students of the Federal Universities of Bahia and Santa Catarina were assigned into a basic or an intermediate group, according to their scores in the L2 proficiency test. They were also submitted to an L2 adaptation of Daneman’s 1991 speaking span test. Positive and statistically significant correlations were found between working memory scores and L2 proficiency measures. Results point to the conclusion that working memory capacity seems to vary as a function of L2 speech proficiency
