摘要：O processo de aquisição de língua pela criança tem sido tratado sob váriasabordagens, desde que a psicolingüística se constituiu como área de estudo dalingüística. Neste artigo, trato do processo de aquisição de língua de uma criançano período de 1 ano e três meses a 1 ano e seis meses, dezembro de 2006 afevereiro de 2007. Nele, descrevo e teço algumas reflexões sobre os seusprimeiros sons significativos, coletados em eventos de fala em seu cotidiano,que revelam a intrínseca relação entre a fonética/fonologia e a construção dosignificado. Assim a fonologia métrica é o principal suporte teórico deste trabalhona análise dos dados, pois permite considerar a minha hipótese de que asílaba e seu ápice (acento) são fatores essenciais na percepção da criança emseus primeiros passos em direção à aquisição de sua língua.
