摘要:The nature of any public sphere is that it embraces allprivate citizens: it is, in current parlance, accessible. TheBritish theatre institution demonstrates a commitment toaccessibility in its funding structures and performanceprogramming. Much of the modern theatrical public sphereis, however, mediated not through performance itself, butrather through various framing activities. Marketing andaudience development initiatives constitute the means bywhich theatre institutions engage in communication withtheir audiences and havemore recently becomeincreasingly dialogic through the use of social media andonline criticism.
