摘要：Objetivou-se avaliar a liberação de CO2 do solo em áreas de Caatinga sob pastejo caprino em São João do Cariri, Semiárido paraibano. Foram utilizados três tratamentos: T1 (10 animais-1 animal/3.200 m2), T2 (5 animais-1 animal/6.400 m2) e T3 (Testemunha). As medidas de CO2 foram realizadas durante 12 horas no período diurno (5:00 às 17:00 h) e 12 horas no noturno (17:00 às 5:00 h). Foram realizadas coletas de material de solo para determinação do conteúdo de água do solo%. As maiores liberações de CO2 foram observadas na área II com 5 animais; Houve tendência da maior liberação de CO2 ocorrer no período noturno nas três áreas estudadas; Os maiores teores de conteúdo de água do solo ocorreram na área III.
