摘要:The DNA analysis can be considered one of the most important technical improvements in criminal investigation since the discovery of finger prints.Incorporated in the forensic routine by the police of the First World countries; this analysis is being introduced to the investigation context in some states of Brazil.The aim of this study was to review in national and international literature, the DNA examination importance and the Forensic Dentistry contribution, as well as ethical and legal relevance aspects to this theme.A literature review was performed, using national and international articles, books chapters, dissertations and monographs, also was reviewed legal devices, related to the subject.The biologic molecular analyses were inserted in forensic context and are being used by all kinds of forensic experts.Such method results in more objective and reliable investigations when associated to classical examination techniques.However, the incorporation of new technologies on human identification services is conditioned to the financial maintenance in each State for the equipments and/or infrastructure.Furthermore, is necessary the creation or team management to the people who work with this methodologies.The post-mortem identification is one of the major study and research areas of Forensic Dentistry, science that is developing significantly.If previously was based only in simple methods of observation and comparisons, nowadays it uses sophisticated laboratory tests, including genetic exams.
