摘要:Identification is a set of different procedures for identifying an object or person.The identification of individuals has become essential in every sphere of human relationships and the identification of a person is required even after his death, to protect family rights, and to achieve certainty of his death and fate of his body.For the identification of an individual, techniques are used and enabling environments, and should be performed by a qualified professional with expertise in the forensic medicine or forensic odontology.The use of imaging examinations produced with medical or dental finality can provide a suitable for forensic analysis in cases of human identification, because they show the same peculiarities of anatomical structures analyzed.The frontal sinuses are bilateral structures and, like fingerprints, are unique to each individual.Its aeration is visible radiographically from 5 or 6 years old and full development occurs around 20 years.Being an individual structure, we can use it as a reliable method for human identification in cases where it is not possible to carry out an analysis of fingerprints.This paper presents, through a literature review, analysis of the applicability of the frontal sinuses in the process of human identification.
