摘要：In recent years, cases of maltreatment have increased not only in Brazil but worldwide.In this context, the responsibility of the dentist is suspect, identify and report these cases to the competent authorities.The objective of this study was to highlight the responsibility and legal duties of Dentists against maltreatment of the child, as well as highlight the importance of early diagnosis of children abuse.The research was made through literature review of Medline, Google, Lilacs and Bireme.It was concluded that the default of career guidance in dental schools and, consequently, the lack of knowledge of this subject and current legislation related to this, have contributed to this neglect.It is the responsibility of Dentists and other professionals working in the field of health to report any suspected or injury finding in children and adolescents.
