摘要:John Huston ’s last film is an interesting case of adaptation on the screen of a literary text which is already rich in references to music, the short story by James Joyce which was published in Dubliners in 1914. In the film, these literary references to music are transposed in different ways and allow the representation of the spectator within the world of fiction. What we hear invites us to a strong affective presence to what we see while the scene around the table also exhibits features pertaining to classical comedy. The subtle fusion of lyricism and irony renews the tradition of melodrama in the film.
