摘要：O objetivo deste artigo é investigar a atuação do acompanhante do idoso durante a internação hospitalar. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa realizada por meio das bases de dados BVS, CAPES, ScIELO e PubMed. A revisão foi composta por 24 artigos. Os resultados foram apresentados sob a forma de quadro e analisados em categorias. Após análise optou-se por duas categorias: papel e perfil do acompanhante; percepção do acompanhante frente à hospitalização. Demonstrou-se uma preocupação referente à vivência do acompanhante do idoso hospitalizado; outros tratavam a vertente do idoso. Percebe-se a importância da presença do acompanhante do idoso durante a internação hospitalar, pois este passa a fazer parte do processo terapêutico, e da melhora visível do quadro do idoso. Conclui-se que orientar, acolher e empoderar esse acompanhante tornam-se ações essenciais para um acompanhamento efetivo e eficaz, de modo que ele seja terapêutico e torne-se um instrumento para a alta precoce desse paciente.
其他摘要：The aim of this article is to investigate the role of the elderly companion during hospitalization. This is an integrative review carried out using the databases VHL, CAPES, ScIELO, and PubMed. The review consisted of 24 articles. The results were presented in the form of a table and analyzed in categories. After analysis, two categories were chosen: role and profile of the companion; companion's perception regarding hospitalization. There was a concern regarding the experience of the hospitalized elderly companion; others treated the elderly aspect. The importance of the presence of the companion of the elderly person during hospitalization is perceived, as this becomes part of the therapeutic process, and of the visible improvement of the elderly's condition. It is concluded that guiding, welcoming and empowering this companion become essential actions for an effective and efficient monitoring, so that it is therapeutic and becomes an instrument for the early discharge of this patient.
