摘要：A amamentação é uma prática benéfica em que a mãe propicia ao seu filho todos os nutrientes necessários para um bom desenvolvimento físico, psíquico, emocional e nutricional. Objetivou-se realizar um levantamento bibliográfico acerca da importância e os benefícios do aleitamento materno. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, a busca ocorreu na Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS), com o auxílio das bases de dados Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Base de Dados de Enfermagem (BDENF) e PUBMED. Os artigos foram coletados no período de março a abril de 2020. Foram utilizados os descritores: Aleitamento materno, Saúde da criança, Saúde da mulher e Promoção da saúde. Após a aplicação dos critérios de inclusão, restaram 12 estudos. Conclui-se que o leite materno é o alimento adequado para a criança tanto do ponto de vista nutritivo e imunológico quanto no plano psicológico, pois além de favorecer o vínculo mãe-filho, oferece os nutrientes que a criança necessita para iniciar uma vida saudável, sendo importante que os profissionais da saúde incentivem e orientem as mães quanto à sua prática.
其他摘要：Breastfeeding is a beneficial practice in which the mother provides her child with all the necessary nutrients for a good physical, psychological, emotional and nutritional development. The objective was to carry out a bibliographic survey about the importance and benefits of breastfeeding. It is an integrative literature review, the search took place in the Virtual Health Library (VHL), with the help of the Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Nursing Database (BDENF) and PUBMED. The articles were collected from March to April 2020. The following keywords were used: Breastfeeding, Child's health, Women's health and Health promotion. After applying the inclusion criteria, 12 studies remained. It is concluded that breast milk is the appropriate food for the child, both from a nutritional and immunological point of view, as well as from a psychological point of view, because in addition to favoring the mother-child bond, it offers the nutrients that the child needs to start a healthy life, it is important that health professionals encourage and guide mothers as to their practice.
