摘要：The solitary ascidian Styela clava Herdman, 1882 is recorded for the first time in the Mediterranean region. It was found in the Bassin de Thau, near S�te; it has not yet been found in the Mediterranean Sea. The Bassin de Thau specimens are described and compared with Northern European specimens. The proximity of commercial shellfisheries to the discovered populations, and the absence of S. clava from other harbours and marinas along the coast, suggests that the species may have been introduced by shellfish transfer.
