摘要：The EsAvI is a multidimensional scale developed in Brazil to assess impulsivity through four factors, named lack of concentration and persistence, cognitive control, future planning and audacity and temerity. The main purpose was verifying the quality of psychometric properties of this scale considering an item-level analysis, the item response theory (IRT). Participants were 930 people from general community, aged between 18 and 80 years, being 59.9% male. The results indicated adequacy of the scale response categories and the assumptions of unidimensionality, regarding each factor. Besides, it was evident that the scale is more informative for the middle and upper portion of the latent trait continuum. In general, EsAvI showed good psychometric properties. However, future studies are necessary with sample with pathological levels of impulsivity traits, as well as the development of new items to improve the assessment of this trait and the discriminative power of the instrument.
